Ring furnace is one of the important equipments for silicon steel for high temperature annealing. Its function is to isolate the hydrogen and nitrogen inside the furnace with the oxygenated atmosphere outside. It can make the annealing products have better quality and higher efficiency, and lower the consumption of energy. But during the use process, once the hydrogen leakage occurs, it will cause deflagration accident extremely easily. So ensuring the furnace safety has vital significance to the silicon steel production.This paper studied the internal and external wall oxidation condition of the furnace by the metallographic test and EDS results. The oxidation corrosion degree of furnace wall was analyzed. The high temperature oxidation resistance tests were carried on for310s heat resistant stainless steel and the antioxidant properties of310s were obtained. In addition, the high temperature creep performance data of the material was obtained by using the home-made high temperature creep testing machine. The life prediction equation was derived from the data processing fitting of the creep test curves and a life prediction for the furnace was acquired according to the real structure. The predictive results agreed well with the actual life of the in-service furnace. Finally, the furnace cover structure was optimized using the finite element software ABAQUS. The stress analysis and creep deformation of Nippon steel original RBAF, RBAF used in Baosteel and our optimized the structure of RBAF were simulated separately and compared. The results showed that the weight and stress distribution in our optimized structure was much less than those in the other two structures. The result of creep simulation also illustrated that the creep deformation at the top side of our optimized furnace was the smallest. It means our optimized RBAF can be a cheap, economic and long-life furnace structure.
