With the rapid development of national economy and the high-speed growth of energy consumption, offshore oil and gas industry developed rapidly in recent years. As the most widely used large floating marine engineering equipment in offshore oil and gas exploitation, floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) has become a topic that draws attention.Mooring system is the most important facility to determine mooring position of FPSO. In the Bohai Bay of China, soft yoke mooring system which is designed via theoretical analysis, numerical simulation, and model test, is widely used to moor FPSO. However, in recent years soft yoke mooring system accidents happened many times, which attributes to the difficulty in calculating the accurate structure response to environmental load and the immaturity of the design theory. In view of the problems in soft yoke mooring system design and analysis, this study carried out soft yoke mooring system analysis and assessment based on full-scale measurement. Horizontal swing of soft yoke mooring system induced by combination of marine environmental load and ship motion was identified based on the result of full-scale measurement. Subsequent analysis shows that the horizontal swing of soft yoke single point system is due to resonance. The impact of horizontal swing on the upper hinge point of mooring leg was analyzed with the help of FEM. Additionally the full-scale measurement system is applicable in Analogous full-scale measurement task.
