Abstract/Summary:
Internal Combustion Engine(ICE) is driven by the power produced from the combustion of fuel in the combustion chamber, in which the friction pairs always working at large load and high temperature, making the friction and wear very common. Piston ring-cylinder system is the most important friction pair in Internal Combustion Engine, it is estimated that the friction loss of the piston system is decreased by half, the total engine friction loss can be reduced more than1/6. Therefore, high-quality lubricating oil is very necessary to reduce friction loss and improve mechanical efficiency.Nano materials are widely used as lubricant additives because of their special physical and chemical properties. Taking into account the friction pairs in ICE always working at variable temperature, variable speed and variable load conditions, before using the Nano materials into ICE, the impact of temperature, speed, load on the lubrication properties of Nano materials should be studied. The following is the content of this paper.(1) The Copper nano-fluids and the Diamond nano-fluids were prepared in different mass concentrations. The dispersion stability of nano-fluids was tested with gravity deposition method and TEM. The viscosity of nano-fluids and its relation with temperature were tested.(2) A series of tests were finished to study the lubrication properties of nano-fluids:â‘ Four-steel-ball tests were made to analyze the impact of temperature, speed, load on the lubrication properties of nano-fluids.â‘¡The slider friction pair test was made to simulate the piston ring-cylinder system of ICE.â‘¢The lubrication properties and the anti-friction mechanism of different nano-fluids were compared by using the results of friction tests and the images of SEM.(3)The engine bench tests were made to analyze the impact of Copper nano-fluids on the lubrication properties and the power-economic performance of ICE.(4)At the end, the summary of the research was given.
