With the rapid progress of science and technology, improving quality of alloy steel has become a importance task for industry. At present, secondary refining has become indispensable important segment for modern steelmaking process. This article researches the technological process of30t electric arc furnace (EAF) and secondary refining furnace in Fushun Special Steel Co Ltd.. Various researches have been done for improving purity degree and metallurgy quality of bearing steel and top grade gear steel.Through the research of metallurgy technology, the results show that:(1) Optimizing smelting process of30t EAF, secondary refining furnace and obtaining optimum technology parameter can get an active action for practical operation.(2) The purity degree and quality of bearing steel and top grade gear steel are improved, namely the total oxygen content in bearing steel is less than10×10-6, and various targets of top grade gear steel meet with the demand of standard.(3) Results show that Sulfur distribution ratio exceeds80whether slag basicity between2.3~3.5or Al2O3is more than12%. The higher distribution ratio is, the higher desulphurization ratio is obtained.(4) Results show that yield of silicon is about68%, and manganese, molybdenum, chrome is higher than92%in secondary refining.(5) Yield of carbon is unstable during secondary refining. Results show that70%heats is about50%. Besides carbon pickup for composition adjustment, the range of0.01%to0.03%of carbon should be considered to set aside for obtaining good carbon content. During VD refining, the range of0.02%to0.01%of silicon is removal. Others alloy element, such as chromium, manganese and molybdenum, have no evident change.
