As an important component of machining and measurement integrated technology, on-site measurement of the workpiece is one of key technologies in urgent need of research and development to ensure hign precision requirement of product under the conditions of reducing cost and increasing productivity.However, on-site measurement is more complex than off-line measurement because with the complexity of the machining process.The technology of on-site measurement is in urgent need of research and development. the technical background for this paper is one part of the key project High-speed CNC lathe of HTC2550hs and turning center.Firstly, the paper introduces the present development condition of the measure to the form error in the international and our country. And it also analyses the characters of on-site measurement. It applies us a method that uses Two-probe method to separate errors as a solution of on-line measurement of the straightness, roundness, cylindricity and axis straightness error of the workpiece contour generating line.It also proves that the methods of this paper is applicable from theory to practice. Because the characters of the measured workpiece are invariable, we can use the Two-probe methods. The signals that we get from measurement include the form error of the measured work and the kinematic error of lathe or measurement mechanism,so we can separate the form error of the measured work from the kinematic error of lathe or measurement mechanism through appropriate mathematic caculation, then we can get the form error of the measured work. On the basis of it, it derives the method of the minimum squares and minimal condition mathematical model of the straightness,roundness,cylindricity,axis straightness error of the measured workpiece generating line and the axis’s straightness. Secondly, the paper structures the hardware of the equipment of on-site measurement of the workpiece, does an experiment on the on-site measurement with the software of labwindows/cvi,and analyses the result of measurement. According to this paper, the two-probe of methods of Error Separation Technique is an effective way for us to solve the problem of the related parameter in on-site measurement. It can not only resolve the problem of the space of using multiple gauge heads to measure on-site because of the great needs of instruments when adjusting the devices, but also realize the separating of the form error of the measured work from the kinematic error of lathe or measurement mechanism. Lastly,some amendatory steps are given to the testing experiment.
