The diversity of molecular structures and weak interactions endues coordination compound abundance characters and functions, such as magnetic, luminescence, chemical sensing, catalytic, nonlinear, electro-active, molecular-based devices and multifunctional materials. Using carboxylic acid ligands,30complexes were synthesized in this paper. The luminescent probe and magnetic properties of some of these complexes were researched. The main contributions in this thesis are as below:1. Three one-dimensional Ru and transition metal (Co, Ni and Cu) complexes were synthesized. One two-dimensional to three-dimensional parallel interpenetration Ru-Zn complex was synthesized, and its luminescent property was explored.2. Using crown-liking carboxylic acid ligands, five novel dinuclear lanthanide complexes and one trinuclear complex were synthesized. When the benzene ring of the ligand was replaced by naphthalene ring, the excitation and emission peaks of ligands and coordination complexes all have red shift. One of the Eu complexes was prove to be a good luminescent probe of Al3+ion3. Nine new complexes were constructed based on o-carboxylphenoxyacetate acid ligand under hydrothermal condition. The different amount of4,4’-bipy used in syntheses play a crucial role in tuning the structures of the complexes with same metal ions. The Co complex is a weak ferromagnet based on antiferromagnetic interaction and spin canting with the critical temperature Tc of2.2K.4. Using4-(trifluoromethyl)benzoic acid and2,2’-bipy as ligand, ID belt-like chain Dy complex was prepared and structurally characterized. The systematically magnetic studies show that it exhibits an SCM behavior with△E/kB=35.3K, τ0=4.24×10-8s.5. One dinuclear Dy complex based on thiophene-carboxylic acid and2,2’-bipy was synthesized by hydrothermal method. One two-dimensional Dy complex containing Dy dinuclear units based on thiophene-carboxylic acid and2,2’-bipy ligands was also designed and synthesized. The studies of magnet evidenced that the two complexes both exist ferromagnetic coupling between the adjacent Dy(Ⅲ) ions, and both display slow magnetic relaxation behavior with△E/kB=21.3K for the dinuclear one, and68.9K for the two-dimensional one.6. Using four different substitutional group benzoic acids,2,2’-bipy and phen as ligands, eight dinuclear Dy complexes were synthesized. The magnetic properties of the eight complexes were carefully researched.
