To improve wear resistance of wearable build-up welding materials, this trial was done bythe method of matrix intensification with grain second-phase. To add a certain amount offerrotitanium, ferrovanadium, ferro-molybdenum, ferrochromium, carbonize boron, graphite andrare earth into D256welding rod coating, it will form boride, carbide and other hard grains inbuild-up welding layer through welding metallurgy reaction so that it can improve its abrasionresistance.To use optical microscope, X-ray diffraction analysis equipment, scanning electronmicroscopy (SEM) and EDS for analysis of the build-up welding layer micro-structure, throughhardness tests, abrasive wear tests, adhesive wear tests etc. To learn the hardness and wearresistance of build-up welding layer which is affected by the amount of ferrotitanium,ferrovanadium, ferro-molybdenum, ferrochromium, carbonize boron, graphite in welding rodcoating.The results show that: Hardness and wear resistance are improved with metal build-upwelding layer which has self-engendered grain strengthening phase. The maximum hardnessreached HRC62, improved HRC10more than the D256, wear resistance also increased nearlydoubled.
