Knitted fabrics are composed of intermeshed loops, and this kind of the loopingstructures makes them have many specific characteristics that other textile structures donot have. The knitted fabric reinforced composites also have some special properties. In this paper, the composite laminates are produced by manual molding technologywith five kinds of warp knitted fabric of glass fiber being used as reinforcement and epoxyresin as matrix. The tensile and flexural properties of composites in the course, wale anddiagonal directions are tested on the universal material testing machine. According torelevant standards, the drop hammer impact test device is designed and manufactured andthe energy-absorption of composites has been studied. In this paper, the tensile strength, hook strength and the knot strength of the glassfiber were tested firstly, and compared with polyester filament. The study found that thetensile strength of glass fiber was obviously higher than polyester filament, but hookstrength and the knot strength was less than polyester filament. According to tensile andflexural properties of glass fiber reinforced plastic test methods, the tensile and flexuralproperties of composites in the course, wale and diagonal directions are tested. The resultsshow that the tensile strength and bending strength depend on the number of bearing loadyarns of reinforcement. The composite material were tested on the drop hammer impacttest device which has been established using ultrasonic module, and the energy absorptioncoefficient is defined to evaluate the energy-absorption properties of composites. Theresearch shows that, the more number of bearing load yarns in per unit area, lowerbending degree of the yarns and the thicker of the fabric, the less energy absorption ofcomposite. The model of tricot stitch reinforced composites has been established UsePro/E, simulated and analyzed by using the finite element software ABAQUS.
