People were thinking and arguing about food safety, environmental risk, ecologysecurity and social ethics morals by transgene technology. Labeling of GMO food fromtransgenic crops become one of the key issues dominating public due to their safetyconcerns, and laws or regulations have been issued to label the GMOs and their derivedproducts in more than thirty countries. Thus, research for the detection of GMOs isnecessary in order to verify compliance with labeling requirements.Currently, the detection technology of GMOs and their foods routed from PCR andthe targets were the exogenous genes. Though PCR is easy and sensitive, it can’t carry onhigh throughput detection of GMOs foods. The development of DNA chips provides a newapproach for the high throughput detection of GMOs foods. In this study a new detectionmethod for GMOs and foods made from them was tried on the DNA chips technology.Nine exogenous genes, six endogenous genes and six strain identification genes inGMOs were selected as target genes, and their primers and probes were designed, screened, and synthesized. The probes were immobilized in the Thin-Film BiosensorChips. PCR was used to amplify the target sequence genes in food sample DNA, then theBiochip were hybridized with PCR product. The temperature and time of hybridizationwere optimized, at last the chip displayed the hybridization result. The method5kinds ofcommon modified plant can be detected by biosensor chip method, and the method isefficient, accurate, simple, high-throughput, practical and sensitive (0.1%). The analysisof hybridization result by new method get rid of the dependence of fluorescence scanner.200samples of genetically modified ingredients in an area were tested in our research. The results showed that soybean GTS40-3-2, genetically modified rice Bt63, geneticallymodified corn and transgenic rapeseed are the main transgenic plant products in the area. The data detected by biosensor chip method were in accord with the data by currentmethods using national related standards.
