In this thesis, Cu-Co/SiO2catalysts were prepared and used for the conversion of syngas to low carbon alcohols. The detailed kinetics were measured with varying reaction temperature, pressure, space velocity. The kinetic parameters such as reaction orders with respect to H2and CO, and apparent activation energies were obtained. The reaction conditions were optimized on the basis of those data. The products distribution is in line with ASF distribution law, and chain growth factor can be varied with temperature. The catalysts were characterized using XRD, TPR to explore the structure-activity relationship of the catalyst. A structure of CuxCoyO was confirmed for the calcined catalysts. We assume this structure is responsible for the aimed reaction.
