In this thesis, the nickel-based catalyst is studied for the hydrogenation of maleic anhydride (MA) to succinic anhydride (SA) and γ-butyrolactone (GBL). Three series of catalysts were prepared which has a higher activity for the formation of succinic anhydride or γ-butyrolactone. In the fixed-bed micro-reactor for catalytic reaction, the catalyst supporter, active ingredients, preparation conditions and reaction conditions, such as the reaction temperature, the reduction temperature, WHSV and H2/MA molar ratio, were optimized screening to make the catalyst reaches the highest activity and obtain the desired product. The catalysts are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), H2temperature programmed reduction (TPR) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) spectroscopy. The results show that the catalysts produced by different preparation methods have a different impact on the activity of the catalyst. Experimental results show that, Ni/ZnO/γ-AlO3and Ni/Diatomite catalyst prepared by the kneading mathod, has a very high activity in the hydrogenation of the maleic anhydride, and the conversion of MA is over97%, and selectivity of SA is more than96%. Nickel-based catalyst prepared by kneading mathod has high activity for hydrogenation of MA to produce SA. Ni/TiO2-Al2O3catalyst prepared by coprecipitation has high activity for hydrogenation of MA to produce GBL. The study results indicate that whatever mathod the catalyst prepared by. NiO and has a strong interaction with the support Al2O3. Introducing ZnO and TiO2can effectively reduce the interaction between the active metal and a carrier to increase the hydrogenation activity of the catalyst. It is found that the copper catalyst Cu/Al2O3which has lower activity for hydrogenation of MA in continuous fixed bed reactor than the Ni-based catalyst. But when the space velocity decreased to0.9h-1, Cu/Al2O3catalyst has high activity, and the conversion of MA reached75%, the selectivity of SA is about53%, the selectivity of GBL is up to about47%.
