Multicolor waterborne coating is a kind of composite dispersion suspended coating. Because of its outstanding decoration performance, it has become increasingly popular in the market, however, it still face some issues like application ability and stability. Since it is a heterogeneous coating and is composed of both organic and inorganic ingredient, it is difficult to study its rheology directly. This paper therefore studies the rheology of spherical polyelectrolyte brushes (SPB) as organic ingredient and Laponite as inorganic, and investigates the influence of pH and added salt concentration on their rheology for each. Hence, the paper takes a look into the hybridization of SPB and Laponite, and study the influence of pH and added salt concentration on rheology. This would be the foundation for improving the stability of multicolor waterborne coating. In this paper, a simple model of multicolor waterborne coating is established and studied to improve the constructive convenience. The article investigated with high concentrations of emulsion and the rheo logical properties of the aqueous solution of Laponite, found that both the pH value and the added salt concentration change has a unique response; The main work has been described as following:(1) PB-PAA brushes were prepared by c photo-controlled emulsion polymerization and verified by DLS. The results show that the interaction of SPB and PAA shell thickness can be controlled by the pH and added salt concentration. The results show that with the increase of concentration, viscosity and moduluses concentrated SPB will increase.(2) This article studies component of Laponite in water dispersion with ICP, and through rheological measurements, the article investigates the response of Laponite gel to pH value and the added salt concentration. Additionally, in order to study the rheology of the waterborne multicolor paint, the paper establishes a simple model by physical method of mixing the organic polyelectrolyte brush and inorganic the Laponite solution to obtain an emulsion of the organic-inorganic hybrid solution. Therefore the article studies the rheo logical properties of the hybrid emulsion, as well as its pH, salt concentration and the temperature response, and lays the rheology foundation for the waterborne multicolor paints.
