Based on the theoretical and experimental analysis, the damage effects of shock wave, thermal radiation, fragment and suffocation of thermobaric explosive were discussed in this thesis.According to the open space test, four different formulations of thermobaric explosive was carried out, obtained the thermobaric explosive shock wave parameters and explosive fireball parameters. Based on the rules of overpressure effect and overpressure-impulse effect, the shock wave effects of different thermobaric bombs were analyzed. Furthmore, the approximate ranges of all damage area with different bombs are discussed, as well as comparative analysis of the explosive fireball size, the duration and the maximum temperature of fireball, which affect thermal radiation of thermobaric explosive.Some study of thermobaric explosive in confined space by experiment and numerical simulation has also been made. According to the experimental data obtained by tests to analyze shock wave overpressure waveform, the multimodal phenomenon of shock wave was found in the confined space. Preliminary discussion for the propagation of the explosive shock wave of thermobaric explosive in the confined space was proposed. By using numerical simulation tools to reveal the specific propagation of shock waves in the confined space, some special phenomenon of shock wave were analyzed, such as focusing and reflection.In order to improve the measurement of the transient high temperature of TBE, a new temperature-measuring system was developed, based on the multi-wavelength pyrometry. By measuring the explosion temperature of TBE in a confined space, the temperature of fireball was derived using polychromatic fitting of the continuum spectra to Planck’law. Through the Matlab calculation procedure, the results of temperature were got, which show the explosion temperature of thermobaric explosives in a confined space could up to3500K. At the meantime, a calibration method for the new system was designed and compared the new temperature measurement system with the original system.
