With the development of modern industrial, thermal spraying materials and equipments, thermal spray technology has developed rapidly. Plasma spray technology is developed as theemergence of modern aviation and space technology, it has been widely used in aviation, aerospace, military, textiles, machinery, electricity, bio-engineering and other fields. It is athermal spray technology of a wide range of application. At the moment, thermal spray materials that studied at home and abroad is mainlyconcentrated in WC-Co alloy and a variety of ceramic materials. The performance of basalt issimilar to that of oxide ceramics, and the storage of basalt is large, the price is much less thanthat of ceramic powder. At present, the plasma spray process of basalt powder and coating hasnot been studied. Basalt has excellent physical and chemical properties, studying on basaltcoating is of great significance on saving energy and reducing production costs, plasma thermalspraying can improve the environment. In this paper, the following aspects were studied:(1) Thermal spray powders were made in natural basalt using sintering and milling methods, twocoatings sprayed with unsintered and sintered basalt powders. Coatings were detected bymeans of XRD and SEM, the phase analysis of basalt coatings were done.(2) The friction and wear experiment of basalt coatings was done on the WMM-1type universaltesting machine, the friction and wear properties of coatings with different proportions werestudied. Chang the speed of testing machine and positive pressure on coating surface, theimpact that different spraying parameters and different experimental parameters on coatingswas compared, and the application of basalt coating was researched.(3) Thermal conductivity coefficient of the workpiece after sprayed with basalt powder wasmeasured on YBF-2-type conductivity tester. Thermal conductivities of coatings with threedifferent TiO2content were compared. In order to study the impact that basalt coating has onthermal conductivity, the overall thermal conductivity of sprayed workpiece was comparedwith that unsprayed. Conductivity analysis was done in order to study the impact that powdercomposition has on thermal conductivity.(4) Analysis of residual stress on coating surface was done with ANSYS software. Study on theimpact that the stress distribution has on workpiece. Temperature field analysis was donewith ANSYS software, and the temperature field of workpieces sprayed with basalt powderwas reaserched.
