With the development of technology, complex parts play an important role in everydaylife. The die design and intermediate shape are the key factors determining the quality ofcomplex formed part. Now the drawing theory study of complex parts stays at a primary stage.Through the experimental method and finite element simulation, we study the multi-passforming and design intermediate shapes of different test pieces. At the same time, simulationand test in the first and second passes are studied thoroughly.Grid method is applied to the study of two passes deep drawing. Using this method, weachieve two intermediate shapes of forming parts and analyse the wall thickness variation ofcomplex multi-pass deep drawing parts. During the numerical simulation process, two passesconsecutive forming method is used. According to the simulation results, we analyzeformability, stress and strain distribution and compare them. The results show that thereremains a tiny discrepancy between multi-pass finite element simulation and test result onvariation in thickness, and we can predict the thickness of multi-pass forming parts by finiteelement simulation method. Analyzing the simulation and test result of axial symmetry part,we find that different intermediate shape has a certain influence on the final part. Only a tinystrain distribution discrepancy exists between multi-pass finite element simulation and testresult,through finite element simulation method we can predict the formability of multi-passforming parts. The multi-pass continuous forming method can solve the problem about thematerial properties variation among different passes.All of these studies provide a convictivetheory about multi-pass drawing workpiece.
