The sheet metal incremental forming technique is a kind of recently developed flexibleand dieless forming technology, which can improve forming quality and forming limit ofsheet metal without expensive metal die compared with traditional punching formingtechnique. Nowadays, this technology can be used for small batch design, many varieties testproduction and personalized production requirements in various kinds of field. In this paper,the study on forming path generation and interference detection for5-axis CNC incrementalforming has a significant meaning to achieve and extend for this technology. The mainresearch in this paper comments are as follows:First of all, in order to improve the working ability and reduce processing time that ittakes to switch the path by using5-axis incremental forming equipment. This paperresearches on generation of forming path and the question of path sequencing for complicatedmulti-summit model, and this paper also propose the algorithm of sequencing the path whichhad been already generated. That is to determine the relationship between many loops thatwere generated by using complicated multi-summit model which is intercepted by a set ofparallel planes, and protocol the extrusion sequence of the pressing tool based on therelationship between the varieties of loops. By the sort algorithm in this paper, the path can beplanned smarter. Secondly, based on the5-axis CNC incremental forming technology, thepaper presents a standard to locate the location of pressing tool, and also locate the pressingtool in the program by using the rotation matrix and translation matrix which were generatedby the position of pressing tool. Thirdly, in this paper, the interference problems of themulti-summit model extrusion process are studied, the thinking of index strategy which canimprove the detection speed and efficiency is introduced to improve the lack of recursiveinformation of linear octree. The corresponding correction algorithm is also proposed in thispaper according to the location of interference. Finally, the method of simulation after reviseby using5-axis CNC incremental forming equipment was given in this paper to prove accuracy of the final path.
