| In the traditional cutting process, the extensive use of cutting fluid has brought a lot of negative impacts. Based on green manufacturing theory, the paper analyzed the mechanism of cooling-air grinding, designed a performance testing device for the cooling-air gun, and given the test scheme of cooling-air grinding. In the paper, cooling-air and dry was adopted separately to grind HSS (W6Mo5Cr4V2) to study the effect of cooling-air on the grinding quality.The performance testing device of cold air gun was designed to complete the performance test experiment. The flow and temperature of the cold air were adjusted by adjusting knob at the hot air outlet of cold air gun. The refrigeration of cold air gun works best (cold air temperature is-14℃, cold air flow is34L/min) when the adjusting knob is located in2.25cm and the air pressure of air inlet is0.5MPa.The cooling-air technology was adopted to grind HSS, which effectively restrain the rise of grinding temperature and wash away the abrasive dust in between work piece surface and grinding wheel surface, which reduce the surface roughness value in comparison with dry grinding.Surface color discriminance and metallographic analysis were adopted to discriminate grinding burn degree. The change thickness of the workpiece surface microstructure in dry grinding is1to1.5times of cooling-air grinding. Lower grinding temperature and lighter burn can reach employing with cooling-air grinding.X-ray method was adopted to measure the residual stress of the workpiece surface. The experimental results show that the cooling-air can lower the grinding temperature, reduce the thermoplastic deformation of the workpiece, improve the residual stress of the workpiece surface.The cooling-air technology is applied to the grinding, can not only reduce the surface roughness value, reduce the grinding burns, improve the residual stress of the workpiece surface, but also have a smaller negative impact on the environment. |
