The coal reservers exceed by far all other fossil fuels, they are considered to be high value resource and caught more and more attention in recent years. Zhejiang University developed polygeneration system to bring about heat, electricity, gas and coal tar, makes coal convert to be liquid fuels and gas, which is an influential use pattern in coal resource. In view of this, this paper launched a series of researches on coal tar.During coal tar processing project, dewater is a necessary procedure. Different opration factors, including demulsifer selection, strring time, strring speed, dehydration temperature, concentration of demulsifer and static placing time were carried out to study their effects on dehydration. The demulsifer called Ji"Nan Wanhe71700was used, and the experimental results showed that dewatering ratio was first increased then tended to steady with strring time, strring speed, dehydration temperature, concentration of demulsifer and static placing time increased. The optimal condition was proposed, and the dewater ratio is met requires.The coal tar exhibited a very poor fluidity, which is not conductive to coal tar processing. As many experimental results demonstrated, it was reasonable to employ frations to decrease the viscosity of coal tar. Four kinds of distillates, include170~210℃、210~230℃、230~270℃and<270℃had been blended in the coal tar to improve the fluidity, and the<270℃one had the best performance.The distillation curve had been got through experiments, and it also been tested and verified by chromatogram simulated distillation. At the same time, GC-MS analysis for frations has been done, and the distillation technical process flow has been proposed.Hydrotreatment had been carried out on coal tar<300℃fraction, the W-Mo-Ni-Al2O3commercial catalyst performed good effect, but Ni2P catalyst did not achieve the desire. In the hydroprocessing experiment, hydroxyl group and carbonyl group exhibited a better hydrogenation activity than carboxyl group, more alkans and benzenes had been coverted.
