There are three parts in this dissertation. The first one is the systematic researchof the laws in accordance with which MFI type zeolite crystals grow on a-Al2O3hollow ceramic fbers (HCFs). The second part bases on the first one and wesynthesize preferred b-oriented MFI membranes on HCFs, then its performance ofmixed gases separation was characterized. The separation mechanisms are alsodiscussed briefly. The last part is that we synthesize a new kind of metal organicframework membrane on on macroporous glass-frit disks and characterize its mixedgases separation performance.Through the systematic adjustment of the quantity of Tetrapropylammoniumhydroxide(TPAOH), we get the relation between the crystal orientation and the ratioof OH-/Si and TPA+/Si, at the same time we explore the optimal synthesis conditionthat can generate the preferred b-oriented MFI membranes on HCFs. We find that thecrystal orientation not only depend on the two parameters but also the chemicalssource. The relation of the quantity of MFI crystal nucleus and the ratio of TPA+/Siunder high alkalinity were also studied.Due to the unique pore structure of MFI and its selective adsorption towards CO2,the as-synthesized MFI membranes are studied by single gas permeation and binarygas permeation of CO2/N2and CO2/CH4. The separation results show that themembranes exhibited high CO2selectivity.By a novel reactant pretreatment method, a continuous metal organicframework-type CuSiF6(4,4-bipyridine)2intergrown membrane with athree-dimensional channe system are prepared on macroporous glass-frit disks. Bythis method the cohesion between the surface of support and the MOF membrane ischemical bonds that are very strong acting force so the membrane thus formed isexpected to have high mechanical strength. Due to the precise controlled amount ofthe necessary element in the first step we can get a thinner membrane more easily. The membrane is studied by single and binary gas permeation, showing that themembrane can selectively separate hydrogen from nitrogen, methane and carbondioxide.
