The Design&Research For Safety Control System Of Semi-submersible Tender Support Drilling Unit

The Safety Control System of Semi-submersible Tender Support Drilling Unit includes Fire Detection System, Gas Detection System and Emergency Shutdown System. This system is an active safety protection system, which will protect crew safety and reduce damage from accident as much as possible. The design process and philosophy of Safety Control System of Semi-submersible Tender Support Drilling Unit have been written in this paper. It has been applied to the BT3500Semi-submersible Tender Support Drilling Unit, which is a turn-key offshore project for BassDrill (USA), which will be finished by Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Offshore Co.,Ltd. in August2013. According to shipyard designer working process, this paper introduces equipments selection, design process and control philosophy for Safety Control and Alarm System, which fulfills ABS MODU. Meanwhile, solution for some difficult issues and main points are analyzed in the paper. In order to discuss a good design scheme and philosophy for The Safety Control System of Semi-submersible Tender Support Drilling Unit.The design spirit stated here can be important reference for somebody concerned in such design work for offshore project.Due to the limitation of writer’s experiences, and with the fast developing of computer and automation technology, the updating of offshore product and improvement of rules®ulations, the design method for offshore safety control system must be varied more and more fast. Hoping to involve into high standard deep water/ultra deep water drilling rig or drilling ship project, which will be helpful for improvement based on actual practice.
