Analysis of trace ions in tetrabutyl ammonium bromide (TBAB) by ion chromatography and removing trace ions by electrochemical method was studied.Firstly, a novel pretreatment was set up to remove the TBA+in TBAB. D155, a weak acid resin, has both good adsorption of Na+and TBA+and good desorption of Na+but bad desorption of TBA+. After the pretreatment with D155, the concentration of Na+is about130μg/kg in TBAB with a concentration about0.54mol/L. The method has a good precision and the recovery of Na+is between97.96%and99.11%.The method of electrochemical method with two membranes was used to remove the Na+in TBAB. The membrane of CF was used to purify TBAB. The research results show that high current density has good effect of sodium removal. Removal rate of Na+is29%at100A/m2. Removal rate of sodium will reach38.4%when the concentration of TBAB is1.6mol/L.The trace ions in the samples were tested by ion chromatography. The precision of this analysis method is high and its linear correlation is good.
