With the development of numerical control technology and equipment,compoundmachine become the important direction of machine tool. The research of the topic isthe complicated multiple spindle group of boring and milling machining center,and it isa horizontal boring machine and vertical milling machine compound.At traditionalprocessing the housing parts machining low precision and low efficiency caused bycomplex housing, multiple positioning and low cutting speed.The machine center cansolve the problem.The machine important significance lies in: it can complete five surfaces milling,drilling, boring and a series of processes and we only achieve one installation ofsurface.Because the machine center provides the four station rotating and horizontalmovement of the table, and boring and milling spindle box installed in vertical millingmachine.So it can eliminate positioning error and deformation, and ensure themachining accuracy,improve processing efficiency, reduce rejection rate etc, it hasimportant significance.This paper introduces the development of numerical control technology at homeand abroad. Firstly, considering the boring and milling center part of mechanicalstructure of machine and control requirements,we choose the NUM1050numericalcontrol system.Secondly, we design the electrical part of the overall scheme, electricalschematic diagram,and PLC logic with the knowledge of CNC and the servo.Third,inorder to get a good steady state and dynamic characteristics, the establishment of amachining center systems error model, using the PID controller on the system’s controlloop calibration and adjustment. Finally, the paper takes VB6.0and Access2003as thedevelopment tools,uses the knowledge of COM library and expert system developed theshaft group machining center fault diagnosis system. The system is basically consistentwith the original design requirements,can accurately locate the fault,provide decisionsupport for fault maintenance,and it is also easy for knowledge maintenance built up bythe database.
