With the development of industry, chromium have been used importantly inmany industries, Chromate production also produces large amounts of chromium slag.At present, our country still has a number of untreated chromium slag heap in theopen yard which have cased serious chromium pollution for the soil and groundwater.This article choose typical chromium slag heap as the research object, The position ofsoil and groundwater sampling point determined according to the data collection andfield survey.Through the detection of soil and groundwater sample, the pollution stateand law were researched.Analysis result showed that the soil and groundwater surrounding the chromiumslag have a different pollution state, the content of different forms chromium weredifference.The contour map of Cr(Ⅵ) in soil show that the mainly pollution range was1km surrounding the chromium slag heap. The evaluation result of soil Cr pollutionusing single factor index shown that more than85%of soil have been polluted bychromium slag heap, and most are heavily polluted, but the evaluation result ofpotential ecological risk index method shown, more than85.71%of soil are minorcontamination, the evaluation results indicate that, although the chromium slag causesoil pollution, but the ecological harm is lighter.The results showed that wind speed and wind frequency had more effects onCr(Ⅵ) contents in the soil near chrome slag pile. The lateral migration law of Cr(Ⅵ)in soil surrounding the pile fits gaussian model. By fixing the Gaussian model, aformula was created for prediction of Cr(Ⅵ) contents in soil around the pile.The studying the chromium content in different depths of soil indicate thatdifferent depths soil below and around the chromium slag heap was polluted indifferent degrees, pollution depth exceed1m.The evaluation result of soil Cr pollutionusing single factor index shown that more than65.95%of are heavily polluted, but the evaluation result of potential ecological risk index method shown, more than80.77%of soil are minor contamination.The content of Cr(Ⅵ) in soil profile was changed regularly. The content belowand the edge of chromium slag heap decreased gradually with soil depth increasing,while the content in other regions first increased and then decreased. Changecharacteristics of chromium in soil profile was effected by soil physical and chemicalproperties. Shallow groundwater around chromium slag heap was polluted seriouslywhile opposite at far,which showing that the chromium slag heap pollutedgroundwater,but the scope was limited.The soil column leaching experiment was design to further ascertaining thetransport regular of chromium in soil.The result shown that the chromium slagleaching liquor could easily transport in soil,which caused pollution to differentdepths of soil and groundwater. The simulation result was consistent with that of theactual sample analysis.
