With the rapid development of the methanol industry, the methanol synthesis technology also moves ahead. Using natural gas to synthesize methanol has gradually become the main technology.Transformation system is the most important faculty in methanol production plant. Firstly, it provides the feed gas for the synthesis system by mixing water vapor up with natural gas in the transformation system under high temperature to convert the methane component in the natural gas to hydrogen, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide. Secondly, it reduces huge amount of energy consumption for the entire device by using of flue gas. Finally, the system is so expensive that it roughly accounts for2/5of the total investment of the plant.Based on the brief overview of the current methanol production status, the progress of the methanol synthesis technology and the development of natural gas to methanol conversion process, we analyze the problem arisen in actual production that the superheated steam coil bends under high pressure condition in the flue gas system as well as daily operation data from the800,000tons/year of methanol project of the CNOOC Chemical Co. Ltd. on Hainan base. The reason for the problem is found out and the solutions are put forward as following.(1) In the process of adding warm water, we should do in strict accordance with the operation process and pay attention to the quality of the warm water.(2) In the daily operation of the chemical factory, we shouldn’t casually change the data form the vendors.(3) Check the meters regularly to see whether it is working correctly.(4) If the operating parameters deviate from the design values provided by the vendors in some special circumstances, we must check its impact on the equipments after the parameters return to normal. Besides, we should write the corresponding contingency plans to prevent such kind of phenomenon happening again.The above solutions not only eliminate the potential loophole of the device, but also provide crucial theoretical guidance for actual production in the future.
