With high content of organic substance and other complicated organiccomponents, treatment for high concentration organic wastewater has become oneof the hardest problems of wastewater treatment in and out of home. Due tooperating simply, processing quickly and perfect effect, adsorption is one of themethods of water treatment used commonly, but the reuse of adsorbent is difficult.Adsorbent preparated from coal is not only low cost, but also can be burnt as fuelafter adsorption, avoiding the problem of the re-polution or reuse. In this research, adsorbents were preparated from lignite in shaerhu of Xinjiang and other region bydrying, treating at low temperature and so on.The preparated coal adsorbent was usedto deal with high concentration organic wastewater for exploring the removal rate. For the No.400lignite,395non-caking coal in shaerhu of Xinjiang, heishancoal, coal in fukang, piliqing coal in Yili, wucaiwan coal and shuixigou coal, undercondition of200mesh, dosing quantity of6g/100ml simulated solution with methylorange, the removal rate is97.02%、93.81%、89.35%、90.58%、87.25%、89.53%、85.07%relatively。Adsorbents were preparated under different conditions by the single factorexperiment method and be used to treat simulated solution. For the No.400lignite inshaerhu of Xinjiang, the optimal drying conditions were:200mesh,105℃,45min.The methyl orange removal rate of this adsorbent reached98.21%, the phenolremoval rate of this adsorbent reached63.97%,with dosing quantity of6g/100mlsimulated solution. For other coal, at a drying temperature of105℃, and dryingtime1h, the methyl orange removal rate all increased,above90%.Adsorbents were preparated under different conditions by orthogonal experimentmethod and be used to treat simulated solution. For the No.400lignite in shaerhu ofXinjiang, the optimal conditions of treating at low temperature were:90mesh,200℃,1.5h. The methyl orange removal rate of this adsorbent reached97.77%, the phenolremoval rate of this adsorbent reached76.30%, with dosing quantity of7g/100mlsimulated solution. For adsorbent based coal, the adsorpting process for methylorange was fit to the second Lagergren rate equation: t/qt=1.2194+0.301t,R2=0.9977;and the one for phenol was fit to the first Lagergren rate equation: log(qe-qt)=0.26887t-0.37658,R2=0.9997.The Freundlich othermal adsorption equation wasbetter in fitting adsorption behavior.
