Crude oil emulsion widely exists in each link in petroleum industry from exploitation,gathering and treatment, especially in the wellbore and surface gathering pipeline in oilfieldand submarine pipeline, it is easily to form crude oil emulsion. Compared with crude oil,emulsion has more complex properties, such as higher freezing point, apparent viscosityincreases obviously, and it often shows obvious shear thinning behavior. Under certainconditions, the type of emulsion can change, which makes the flow rules of crude oilemulsion more complicated. Therefore, study on the rheological behavior of emulsion isindispensable basis for the design of gathering pipe network, optimization of operationparameters and the safe operation of pipeline.Daqing crude oil is high wax content oil, its emulsion has special features comparedwith heavy oil emulsion. There are many factors that have influence on the behavior ofemulsion. The influencing rules of water content on the freezing point of W/O waxy crude oilemulsion are studied through freezing point instrument; MARS â…¢rheometer is used toresearch the relationship between shear rate, temperature, water content and viscosity ofwaxy crude oil emulsion.The effects of resting time, shear rate, temperature and water content on the yieldbehavior of emulsion are discussed.Some viscosity prediction models are evaluated based on experimental data. One ofthem is improved, based on which a new viscosity prediction model that is applicable forDaqing waxy crude oil emulsion is put forward.Analyse the effect of DODE flow improver, which is developed by Daqing oilfielddesign institute. Add different additive concentration into waxy crude oil emulsions, comparethe freezing point, viscosity and yield stress of emulsions with differernt amount of improver,select the optimal concentration of additive.
