Research And Application Of Percolation Theory In The Contemporary Architecture

In order to interpret the laws of forms of architecture and compositions of space, and then to grasp the logic of architectural design, this thesis has taken current research results of the percolation theory and their application in urban and buildings as the study object. Nowadays, percolation is not only a natural phenomenon, it also displays the graphical beauty by way of modeling in mathematics, physics and other interdisciplinary case. As an architect, we should not miss anything beautiful, these models, composition principles and percolation theory can be used to build a new system with respect to forms of building and space, and can be considered as a theoretical prototype of skin and space design for buildings in new era.On the premise of grasping the whole academic development of this age, this thesis has studied the research results of relevant fields both from home and abroad (Chapter?). Firstly, paper introduces the basic concepts of percolation, models of percolation and the relationship between percolation and fractal. Then it made an analogy between percolation and the traditional Chinese yin-yang theory as well as Go, so that the percolation theory would be more accessible for those who first come to it by way of using common things (Chapter?).Secondly, the thesis described the change and the tendency in the contemporary aesthetic as preparation for the percolation aesthetics. By giving examples of emergence of the percolation form in painting, industrial products, advertising, etc. that are pretty common entities, the value of percolation aesthetics are further confirmed. After that, the possibility of its application in building skin and space has been introduced as well (Chapterē).Chapterēaims to specific description of classification and presentation for buildings with characteristic of Chapter, such as application of DLA model, relationship between skin of building and percolation, the way to practice percolation in architectural space, the method of using percolation to integrate structures and environments, etc.Some projects relating to percolation that the author had participated in are combed and presented in Chapter?, since the interpretation of these buildings is useful for analyzing the application possibilities of the percolation theory in today s architecture.In the final (Chapter VI) percolation theory and its aesthetics has been approached on a philosophical level to find a certain opportunity to developing a new architectural theory.
