The fiber optic hydrophone is a science of high-tech based on optical fiber sensing technology,involving communication signal processing, automatic control, measurement etc. It is widely usedin the military field with the rapid development. Various signal detection technologies have beenmade more progress from analog to digital detection as demand of high-performance areincreasing for fiber optic hydrophone. With the development of virtual instrument technology, thevirtual measuring signal of fiber optic hydrophone makes a new kind of method..The fiber optic hydrophone is an instrument for acoustic signals in the ocean, which is basedon the transmission properties of optical fiber and varieties of modulation effects brought by itsinteraction with the surrounding environment. The interferometric fiber optic hydrophone hasextremely high sensitivity and dynamic range, with which doomed in the military field, and has arapid development in the push of military from the laboratory research to engineering applicationstage. With the development of the submarine noise reduction technology, the detection ofunderwater acoustic signal and signal processing capability is also improved. As the improvementof the performance requirements to the fiber optic hydrophone, varieties of signal detectiontechnology have developed constantly, ranging from the analog detection to digital detection. Thevirtual testing hydrophone signals becomes a new means and method with the development ofvirtual instrument technology. This paper puts forward to the new ideas of analog fiber optichydrophone signal detection used by virtual instrument based on the present situation.This paper describes the basic principle of the interferometric fiber optic hydrophone,develops a program of unit interferometric fiber optic hydrophone testing platform, introduces thepowerful features of LabVIEW in signal analysis and processing in the field of virtual instrument,accomplishes the design of hardware circuit of interferometric fiber optic hydrophone, completethe connection of non-NI acquistion card and LabVIEW by calling dynamic link library to developa hydrophone signal detection VI software. The simulation results show the good performance ofthe VI software. Through the simulation can deepen the understanding of the theoretical analysis,then the method and experience in the simulation canbe applied in the actual testing system.The output of fiber optic hydrophone signal by using analog hardware circuit, uses theHS3-100data acquistion card for data acquistion, then contrasts and analyzes the obtained signalwith standard fiber optic hudrophone signals, and makes a further summary of the problem in the testing process. Under the laboratory condition, the virtual detection system has the ideal soundpressure sensitivity and the acceleration snesitivity characteristic conform to industry standard ofmeasurement to achieve the desired design requirements, then puts forward the lack of testing andthe need to be improved in the system as the reference advice for further reseach and improve thesystem.
