| Synchronous motors are widely applied in the industry productionsbecause of its excellent power angle and performance. However, thephysical process of starting the synchronous motors is complicated anddifficult to control,especially to control the big power high voltagesynchronous motor is more difficult. In early times, the high failure rateand low reliability of thyristor control system greatly affected itsapplication in the synchronous motors.This paper study the soft start control of high voltage synchronousmotors based on the project of XXX steel plant. Firstly, it introduces thetheory and structure of the synchronous motors, and gives an analysis ofthe operation, emphasizing on the starting process of synchronous motors.Secondly, several common starting modes are discussed and theperformance is compared and analyzed. This paper focus on the newsolution research in soft starting of the synchronous motors, analysis ismade on the technology and the process based on the multi-cells converter.The result shows that it has high reliability, perfect wave as well as good starting characteristics and is easy implementation. It lays a foundation andguarantees the project carries on smoothly. This project was successfullycarried out and it highly promotes the application of the multi-cellsconverter in the soft starting of high voltage synchronous motors. |
