It is significant to develop clean energy vehicles for saving energy andreducing emission. In clean energy vehicles, Hybrid Electric Bus hasadvantages of conventional ICE bus in many aspects. Due to various drivingconditions which Hybrid Electric Bus may be driven in, its control strategyshall be adaptive to these driving conditions. The control strategy based ondriving condition and load conditon recognition is an applicable way toimprove driving condition adaption and fuel economy of Hybrid Electric Bus.In this dissertation, the control strategy of Hybrid Electric Bus based ondriving condition and load conditon recognition has been proposed, includingdriving condition and load conditon recognition strategy and energymanagement strategy.Driving condition and load conditon recognition strategy has beenproposed to get driving condition information and load information. Drivingcondition recognition strategy has been designed by analysis of drivingcharacteristics and control parameter differences among different drivingconditions. Load conditon recognition strategy has been designed according tothe relationship between driving force and acceleration in low speedaccelerating stage.In energy management strategy, vehicle control requirements in bothnormal and abnormal condition and requirement to use driving condition andload information effectively were considered. Operating mode selection anddriving torque distribution strategy has been designed by analyzing vehiclefault solving and vehicle operating state. Control parameter switch strategyhas been designed considering dirving condition varying principle and vehicleoperating smoothness.The forward simulation platform has been developed to evaluate theperformance of control strategy based on driving condition and load conditon recognition. Simulation results of driving condition and load conditonrecognition show that driving condition and load conditon recognitionstrategy is able to get driving condition and load information. And the resultsof various driving cycles show that the control strategy based on drivingcondition and load conditon recognition is able to improve fuel economy anddriving condition adaption of Hybrid Electric Bus by using driving conditionand load information effectively.
