It has been of great concern at home and abroad to improve the seismicperformance of shear walls. The proposed composite shear wall with steel plateenergy dissipation connectors fit between paralleled CFST columns is a kind ofdamage reduction and consuming energy wall. It combines paralleled CFST columns, steel plate energy dissipation connectors embedded between columns, reinforcementconcrete set at the two sides of the connectors. Based on the experiment, the seismicbehavior of the new composite shear wall is studied. The results achieved are asfollows:1. A kind of composite shear wall with steel plate energy dissipation connectorsfit between paralleled CFST columns has been put forward. The test study on seismicbehavior of seven wall specimens with different design parameters has been carriedout. The load bearing capacity, stiffness and stiffness deteriorate process, hystereticcharacter, ductility and failure characteristics were analyzed. The vibration reductionmechanism was revealed.2. The concept of unit of damage reduction&consuming energy has beenproposed. It composes of the core structure of CFST boundary columns-steel plateenergy dissipation connectors and damage reduction units of concrete strip. It expandsthe seismic design concept for shear walls.3. The FE model has been established and the numerical simulation has beenconducted. The calculated results agree well with the experiment results. Results show that the new composite shear wall can improve the ductility and energydissipation capacity, and possess the good mechanism of damage reduction&energyconsumption. Its characteristic is as follows:(1) During loading, the cracks on the concrete strips start to open and close toconsume the seismic energy. It has the effect of damage reduction and delay thedamage of the core structure. So it has good energy dissipation mechanism.(2) The wall consumes the earthquake energy by bent and shear deformation, andat the same time, it works with the out concrete strips to consume energy.(3) The boundary CFST columns plays a larger role in bending, and the middleCFST columns share more vertical axial force during the later loading. This will help to give the full play of the ductility of the wall.
