Energy for sustainable development is one of the most important and critical issuesall over the world. Therefore, the development of renewable resource and thecomprehensive utilization of energy is the only way for human development. Bio-oil isa kind of energy that has great advantages in store and transport, and it is one of bestalternatives for fossil fuels. The biomass pyrolysis and liquefaction is a hot issue inmany countries. So far, the high energy consumption and cost for all the present biomass pyrolysisreactors are the key problems that limit the universal use of biomass pyrolysisliquefaction. The high temperature air produced during the Blast Furnace SlagGranulation used as the heat resource to pyrolysis biomass is put forward, and a novelheat accumulating biomass pyrolysis reactor is designed and manufactured. As the high temperature, about800℃, is being used in this reactor, the cost ofbiomass pyrolysis is drastically cut down. Besides, the heat storage material used in thisreactor simplies the ways for the temperature control.Based on the down pipe fixed bed in which the electricity is used as the heatresource, the best reaction temperature is got through orthogonal test. Considering theheat transfer efficiency, the metal Al is chosen as the phase change material in thereactor for temperature control. With the maize straw being used as the experimental material after being broken, and the high temperature being used as the heat resource, the pyrolysis is carried on inthe heat accumulating biomass pyrolysis reactor. The bio-oil productivity reaches41%.The aromatic compounds and fatly acids compounds are contained in the bio-oil.Owning to the fatly acids compounds the PH of bio-oil is3.7. Besides,10%of thebio-oil is water, so the bio-oil must be treated before being used.
