The Study Of Protection Process And Conservation Ideas Of Xi’an Historical City

There are many historical resource in Xi’an, but following the rapid developmentof city, many of ancient site or historical buildings are destroyed. How do we conservethose historical resource and keep the city context is a big problem which managers ofthe city should be considered. In this essay, some problems will be summarized and tryto analysis the process of historical city conservation, after review of conservationhistory of Xi’an city.First, brief review history of Xi’an city develop from ancient to modern society,and try to analysis the change of context and elements we should conserve or protect.Second, review four city plans which were formation since foundation of PeopleRepublic of China. And essay also introduce some related information of historical cityin each plan, and also some examples of historical site protection in Xi’an. Throughintroduction, how Xi’an historical city was protected is summarized.Finally, through the case study, there are divided three stage, first is absoluteprotection, second is contradiction stage of authenticity and use, last one is the practiceon archaeological sites conservation. From the analysis of those, there are three keyelements in city conservation, one is support by government, second keep theauthenticity of sites and monuments and then use it properly.After the study, useful suggestions are mentions and will help managers of city toprotect historic city successfully.
