Today, under the restriction of energy shortage and environmental conservation,it is especially important and urgent to research and development new alternative automobile fuels of petroleum. The rational utilization of coke oven gas, rich in hydrogen and methane, as the sources of HCNG fuel on engine application, meanwhile good economic and environmental benefits are gained. The main work of this thesis is divided to two parts including experimental study and numerical simulation; focus on the characteristic of combustion and emission of 55% hydrogen ratio HCNG engine fueled by COG(coke oven gas).In this thesis, the experimental study consists of the following three main issues: (1) the study of the characteristic of combustion and emission of lean burn 55% hydrogen ratio HCNG fuel. (2) The study of the effect different excess air ratio (lambda) when the ignition timing adjust to MBT on performance and emission characteristics at wide open throttle operating conditions fuel by 55% hydrogen ratio HCNG fuel based on COG on a turbocharged spark ignition engine. In the numerical simulation work, the one-dimensional simulation software of AVL Boost was used to setup the whole machine model which describe a thermodynamic process, and validate the application of the model through experiment. Through one-dimensional simulation the 55% hydrogen ratio HCNG fuel and COG fuel effects of on engine overall performance is analyzed.
