The size of head aperture ratio of the shield cutter as the most important part of the cutter designing,determines the cutting conditions of the cutter to the soil to a large extent. The unreasonable and inaccurate designing and layout of the opening part will impact the soil surface and the excavation soil, and also the tunneling efficiency,and tunneling accidents seriously. So the research of cutter aperture ratio is of great significant for the shield cutter system as well as the tunneling of the shield body.Dynamics numerical simulation is used to research the cutting of the cutter to the soil to explore the importance of the cutter aperture ratio in the paper, the results of this paper are as follows:(1)Researched the methods of the research of shield tunneling based on the explicit dynamics, and analyzed the feature and reliability of the soil large deformation dynamics based on LS-DYNA, designed the numerical simulation program of the soil large deformation ;(2) Analyzed the interaction between the tunneling and the soil deformation, established the models of the cutter to the soil based on the statics soft FLAC3D and dynamics soft LS-DYNA, analyzed and determined the significant influence of the cutter head aperture ratio and size to the shield tunneling total thrust and the surface stability and so on;(3) Referring the related data of the shield experiment of Shenyang Heavy Machinery Group Co., Ltd, established the cutter and the dynamics numerical simulation model, researched the sediment mobility of cutter centre part in the process of tunneling, compared and analyzed the simulation result of different centre head aperture ratio, in the meanwhile,analyzed the forces of the cutter and the tools in the process of the tunneling, which provides support for the cutter designing and tunneling.
