Electric vehicle has incomparable advantages in environmental protection andenergy-saving. Meanwhile, battery technology stands a core position of EVdevelopment. At the present time, Lithium ion battery, which is the future trend of thebattery area, can’t take the place of Ni-MH battery in a short-term, because of itsproducing cost, life cycle characteristic and safety performances. As a key index ofthe traction battery, research on life cycle characteristic of has been attachedgradually by the industry.Based on the currently existing battery test procedures, the study of battery basiccharacteristics including capacity characteristic, efficiency characteristic, internalresistance characteristic and energy power characteristic of Ni-MH battery, LiMn2O4and LiFePO4lithium ion battery had been presented in this thesis. The test dataprovided a further application for the battery modeling.The thesis developed the PNGV model of the LiMn2O4and LiFePO4lithium ionbattery. Identified model parameters and evaluated the simulation accuracy of themodel by using “Federal Urban Drive Schedule”.Then based on the battery model, developed a hybrid electric city bus model, thethesis taking the LiMn2O4lithium battery as object, conducted a series test to studythe life cycle characteristic and mathematical model. An analysis of capacity, energy,efficiency, internal resistance and power of the battery on different SOC set-point wasmade after the life cycle test. Hoping to provide valuable references for EV batterylife cycle characteristic research, the thesis provide a method to make an initialjudgment model of lithium battery life.
