Energy crisis has deeply affect the development of the whole word,among whichthe process industry occupies a large proportion in the energy consumption,this paperdoes a further research on energy process optimization for more energy savings inprocess industry.The paper starts with large amount survey on energy integration and heatintegration and energy system optimization,and conduct basic research and analysison the theory of energy process optimization which including the definition ofboundary of the research object and classification of each subunits.Then investigating the theory of optimization of local equipment have somelimitations compare with the total site optimization through case study of compressedair system.There has some limitations when only using the air compressor of highefficiency.(1)The original system may be changed when only concern the local unit asit will break the connection with other subunits.(2) In some cases the whole systemhas first priority and subunit has to make a concession.(3) Usually there have morethan one goals at the beginning of design of the whole system, generally it can notmeet all the needs of each parts.It can usually get more economic benefits when using air compressor of highefficiency, but it may cause more energy lose as other factors which may influence theefficiency of the compressed air system have been ignored. Energy processoptimization method can get about24%of the energy saving in contrast to the12%ofhigh efficiency equipment.Finally,the paper mainly research on multiple process optimization in the use ofpinch analysis contain the heat transfer among the pinch point and the heat transferabove the pinch point. Although the existence of pinch limits the maximum exchangeof heat networks but also established the smallest consumption of the utility.Theresearch comes out that it will be the best energy saving method for heat transferabove the pinch point when the area above the pinch point satisfied the situation of theheat transfer to the whole system.the paper draw the conclusion that energy process optimization method whichis limited by the other factors can still achieve good energy savings after theresearch of both a single process systems and multiple process system.
