On the ground or during the flight, the ventilating and cooling system of the small turbineengine must provide the needed air for the engine and make the engine working environmentin the permissive temperature range to ensure the long-term and reliable operation of theengine and its components. In the ventilating and cooling system of small turbine engine, theair passes through the inlet into the cabin. One part of the air flows into the compressor inlet, and the rest is emitted for cooling by the ejector. This paper presents the research work on the ventilating and cooling system of smallturbine engine, including modeling, design, performance study and optimization. In the paper, the structures of the engine and its attachments are simplified, and the mathematical model ofthe ventilating and cooling system of small turbine engine is established, and thethree-dimensional graphics of the ventilating and cooling system are drawn with the softwareCATIA. Then, the different boundary conditions of the ventilating and cooling system aresolved at different heights, different flight speeds and different engine rotational speeds, including the calculation of the gas pressures, temperatures and fluxes of the inlet and theoutlet of ejected flow. Based on computational fluid dynamics and the numerical heat transfer, the meshes of the model are generated, the3-D model is simulated numerically in FLUENT,and the distributions of the velocity field and the temperature field are obtained underdifferent working conditions. Besides, the pressure fields, velocity fields and temperaturefields of the cabin are analyzed, and their performances are compared under different workingconditions, and the structure is optimized. The optimization of the system can make coolingair take more heat away and thus make the engine and its attachments work more effectively.
