A Local Culture Research Of Urban Landscape Of The Waterfront

Water is the source of life. Water is not only the necessity of maintain life, whichalso arise people’s nature to close and live near by it. Coastal city has been always idealresidential for human being to live. Coastal landscape is very precious wide open zone,which offers space for people to exchange information, communication and outdoorentertainment. Therefore, it is always a birth place for tradition cultural and historicalheritages. How to design a beautiful view of costal area has been changed for variousangle along with times changed. Coastal landscape became the city image and themicrocosm of townscape for many aspects, from original artificial reconstruction toreturn to nature, from irrigation and flood control to local exhibition of historicalheritage and landscape. Good design is in considerations of important factors includinggive an ecological environmental and beautiful waterfront environment both fromcultural and unique style which makes it has soul and vitality.This paper are includes five chapters. The first chapter as an introduction for wholepaper mainly demonstrates the relative defined conception of landscape’s developmentand current state of domestic and abroad. The second chapter focuses on the research ofdrive issue of city costal landscape and its general issue that China has exists. Thefollowing chapter is main contents of whole paper and it’s also the research findings,which are summaries the design principal, design procedure and design thinking. Thefourth chapters as a case studies, to specific analysis and demonstrate through the case.The last part is conclusion. The research methods of this paper is through resourcecollection, comprehensive analysis of contrast and relative theories, and then proposeproblem, finding problem and finally resolve problem. The creative and finding parts of this paper are includes three parts. The first part,Analysis of the urban waterfront landscape with the particularity. The second part is theanalysis of the composition of urban waterfront landscape’s regional culture, includingthe particularity of greenway and the elements of regional culture. The last part ismaking the proposal of solving problem, which is raising the design principles, stepsand thinking. Finally, through the case of Xi’an Chan Ba River waterfront and BeijingTongzhou Canal Park to specific demonstrated and analyzed the waterfront landscape.Lastly, I hope this thesis can have some reference value of theregional culture of urbanwaterfront landscape design.
