Novel 8/10 bearingless switched reluctance motor, which can control rotor radialpositions with magnetic force. The motor has combined characteristics of switchedreluctance motor and magnetic bearing. This paper proposes an air-gap control systemmethod of suspending force control in a bearingless switched reluctance motor (BLSRM).Based on the derived mathematic model, the parameters of the motor such as basicdimensions, pole arcs, air-gap length and winding turns are given. After the analysis of theradial force of the motor, a problem was found that there is a disturbance in another radialforce pole. So the most important thing was how to get rid of the disturbance.And then some basic control methods of the conventional bearingless motor wereintroduced. At the same time, the advantage of the control method was given, based on thiskind of control method, a new compensation control method of controlling the radial forceof the motor was proposed. The way to realize this method is using the lookup-table. Bythis way the disturbance radial force can be compensated.In order to prove the usefulness of this method, a simulation was made. From thesimulation result, the radial force can be compensated. And then a real time controlexperiment was set up to prove the simulation result. A simplified control model for radialforce is derived. According to this control model, selection of radial force pole can bedetermined and corresponding currents can be calculated. Further, through PI method,rotor displacement can be controlled at the balanced position by means of currenthysteresis method. The experiment results verified the validity of control strategy.From the analysis and the experimental results, it is shown that the proposed strategyis effective in realizing a naturally decoupled radial force control of BLSRM...
