In the traffic safety system ,driver’s factor plays a crucial role .The drivingintention research is also gradually received researcher’s attention .Objectiveanalysis of the driver’s driving intention helps to reduce the number of trafficaccident and improve the traffic capacity .The identification result could reverseinstruction of traffic control and complete traffic safety system .It’s in favor ofadvance warning improper driving behavior and keeps the stability of trafficsafety .With the introduction of Hidden Markov theory ,new solutions and meansfor the identification of driver’s driving intention are provided .The main purpose of researching the driver’s driving intention is to servicetraffic safety system .In this paper ,on the basis of research results of foreign anddomestic driver’s intention identification ,the advantages and disadvantages ofvarious identification method were analyzed to select the most suitable one .HiddenMarkov theory was used to build the composite the identification model of thedriving intention .The speed changing ,braking and lanes changing of the driver’sintention could be fully considered in this model .The model was applied to morepractical significance .The real traffic environment and vehicle operatingparameters were took as input .The abnormal input data was processed by t-testalgorithm so that the accuracy of model identification is improved .Then by usingthe HMM module in Matlab simulation software ,all composite driving intentionidentification models were trained and model reliability was tested .The experimental result showed that the identification of the driver’s drivingintention based on Hidden Markov theory had high accuracy .The advance time ofidentification could meet application needs .The advance warning could beprovided to the driver’s dangerous operation to prevent traffic accidents . And theidentification result in the same period could provide suggestions to the system oftraffic safety control, too. The driver was guided to safe operation from theperspective of optimal control system.
