As the high speed development of railway in China, the demand of smoothness is more and more important to high speed railways. However, the stiffness of transition zone which connect ballast track and slab track changes greatly, which threaten the smoothness and safety of railway. Because the high speed railway has a very strict requirement to the smoothness of rail, transition zone, as one the weakness of high speed railway, limits the smoothness of high speed. As a result, solving the irregularity of transition zone has a very significant meaning to the development of high speed railway in China. This paper study the mechanical characteristic of transition zone between ballast track and slab track, base on the multiple dynamic coupling model of train-track-transition zone using finite element software DARTS and ABAQUS. Then analyze the dynamic characteristics of different transition models. The main effort of this paper is as follow:(1) Sum up the study state and its characteristic of transition zone home and oversea, and analyze and the current measurement of transition, and then select the measurement which this paper studied, that is double track method, gluing ballast method, changing the length of sleeper method, changing the fastener stiffness method and longitudinal connected sleeper method.(2) Focusing on the characteristic of the transition zone measurement, using the finite element software DARTS and ABAQUS to build the dynamic coupling model of train-track-transition.(3) Compare and analyze different models built by different software, and compare with the experiment data to prove the stability of models.(4) Build different finite element model base on different measurements, and calculate the dynamic characteristic of them, and get advantage and disadvantage of them.(5) Provide reasonable advises to the construction of high speed railways.
