Improving organic solar cell’s efficiency is a hot topic around the world. Solvent, thermal annealing, interface modification, variation of donor/acceptor mass ratio, the concentration of active layer; electromagnetic field and substrate may alter device performance. Scientific research in understanding theses effects to the PV cells are on going. This work includes very fundamental experimental work as following:A working relationship between the thickness of P3HT:PCBM active layer and processing condition for film preparation was setup. Influence factors of thickness, concentration and rate to the devices performance was elvaluated. Different annealing condition were also compared, and the change of morphology with different annealing time was discussed.Flexible polymer solar cell was fabricated and explored, optical densities were measured as a mean to evaluate the thickness of the active layer in flexible devices. Therefore the device performances in relation to the active layer thickness and thermal annealing were investigated. These were further compared with that prepared using glass substrate.
