There are many factors such as rainfall infiltration、human activity and earthquakes that can make slope unstable, according to the surveys,rainfall is the leading cause of the slope slide.Therefore, the research of slope’s stability under the action of rainfall and how to forecast the slope slide happening is a urgent engineering problem to solve.Firstly, through the collection of practical example of landslides occurred in our country in recent decades,the paper analyses the background and mechanism of several large landslides,and classifies the landslides happened in recent decades,then summarizes the main controlling factors in landslides and the features of the structure of slope which are broken.Secondly,based on the correlation theory, the paper analysis slope stability under the effect of rainfall by using the finite element analysis method. So far, with the experts’ research,many slope stability analysis methods had emerged.Here in this paper,i mainly introduces one of the method of quantitative analysis--the rigid body limit equilibrium method and the finite element numerical analysis method based on ABAQUS software. The paper analies different geological structure of the simulated slope including homogeneous, soft-hard structure and containing soft intercalation three kinds under the action of rainfall by the method of finite element numerical analysis.And through the variation of saturation the pore water pressure and displacement deformation, the paper summarizes the mechanism of the above types of slopes’instability and failure under rainfall conditions.At last, the paper researches some tech about landslide monitoring and forecasting, and comes up with several economic and applicable tech methords to railroad slope monitoring.The first prog ram uses lidar+video equipment+rainfall monitoring; the second is fiber grating+video equipment+ra infall monitoring; the third adopts dual grid sensor+video equipment+rainfall monitoring program; a nd the forth is the TDR+tilt count+piezometers. These methords have certain practical values.
