Automotive adaptive cruise control system (ACC) develops from cruise controlsystem(CCS). Sensors like radar and camera are installed on the ACC vehicles to detect thefront vehicles. By controling the speed, ACC can keep a safe and reasonable distancebetween ACC vehicle and the target vehicle in order to avoid rear-end collisions.State Key Laboratory of Vehicle Simulation and Control of Jilin University studied onthe ACC system based on the driver pre-optimal preview acceleration model. Fuzzydecision-making algorithm and fuzzy self-tuning control algorithm has been proposesd. ButACC real vehicle field test still isn’t set up due to the development progress of the drivingtest platform and the lack of a complete set of control parameters calibration method.Based on the above, this paper focuses on the integration of fuzzy self-tuning controlalgorithm and the driving test platform and proposes ACC control algorithm parameterscalibration method for the longitudinal dynamic characteristics of the test platform vehicles.Ultimately in the campus environment, the ACC performance demonstration of0to40km/htypical conditions is realized.First, the drive and braking characteristics parameters in the fuzzy decision-makingalgorithm are calibrated based on vehicle kinematics and dynamics of sports performanceand distance model in the decision-making algorithm is further improved; Second, fuzzycontrol scale factor and fuzzy membership function parameters in the ACC system areoptimized by the particle swarm algorithm; Then, using CarSim and Simulink software tobuild the vehicle dynamic model and the ACC system control algorithm model for a numberof typical operating conditions of the simulation analysis of the ACC system to verify thecontrol effect of the ACC algorithm optimized match. For the drag and gear switching, afuzzy online self-tuning the algorithm is builded to further improve the control algorithmadaptability and robustness. The last, relying on the driver-in-the-loop test-bed and Zhixiangsedan test platform, ACC system is validated and it provides a viable approach for the ACCsystem and vehicle integrated matching.
