In steel frame, beam and column are connected by joint, and the performance of jointhas great influence on the whole structure. In steel structure design, hybrid joint is usuallyused to connect beam and column, flange of beam and column are connected by fullpenetration groove weld, and web of beam is connected to flange of column by connectingplate with high strength bolts. Under design load, flange resists the bending moment and webresists the shearing force. However, the performance of this kind of joint is not very well inreal application. This paper put forward a new kind of steel casting, and experiment on hystereticbehavior of joint connected by this kind of steel casting is conducted. Then failure mode, energy dissipation capacity, and the effect of horizontal limb, vertical limb, ribbed slab onjoint performance are studied. The model of this joint is build in ANSYS finite element analysis software, and thehysteretic behavior under low frequency cyclic load is simulated. Compared with theexperiment result, finite element model can reflect the stress characteristics, failure mode andhysteretic performance well. At last, effect on joint performance of horizontal limb, verticallimb, ribbed slab is studied with more different parameters. The analysis shows that ductility and strength of this kind of joint is good, and thecalculation of ANSYS software is excellent agreement with the experimental results. It isreliable to study on joint which is connected by steel castings with ANSYS software. Failuremode is mainly affected by horizontal limb, vertical limb, ribbed slab. Horizontal limb, vertical limb, ribbed slab has influence on bearing capacity and stiffness of joint, andhorizontal limb is the most important influencing factor. Influence of horizontal limb, verticallimb and ribbed slab to hysteretic behavior of joint becomes smaller and smaller.
