With the development of national economy, the construction of the high-speed railway of passenger dedicated line is accelerating, tunnels take large proportion of the total length of the railway.More and more problems is encountered when the tunnel is building. The groundwater existed in the rock mass is one of factors which causes these problems, the groundwater can influence the stability of the rock mass significantly,in some cases, the influence is decisive and constrains the deformation and failure modes of the rock mass, for this reason,it’s necessary to study the interaction mechanism of the groundwater and the rock mass and groundwater impact of surrounding rock stability.Based on the coupling mechanism of the water-rock,the article divided the interaction into the interaction between groundwater and rock and the interaction between groundwater and rock mass structure, in order to study the impact on the rock mass’s stability which is caused by groundwater in different rock classification, the article also simulate the groundwater seepage field.Because the groundwater has an important impact on the rock mass,we usually consider the groundwater as a modification factor in rock classification. According to specifications and data research, combined with the field survey’s results and the results of numerical analysis, the article presents a modification method in rock classification based on the groundwater status.Another important modification factor is the initial stress state,According to specifications and data research, combined with field survey’s results, the article presents a modification method in rock classification based on the initial stress state. The article also presents a modification process in rock classification when both the factors should be considered.
