Nowadays, more and more skyscrapers will be built. As a result, luffing jib tower crane is becoming more and more popular because of it’s unique advantages. The technology of luffing level of boom has been widely used in port cranes, but the technology almost hasn’t been applied in luffing jib tower crane. However, using the function of luffing level, an operator can easily keep the suspended load moving in line during the luffing process of tower crane. What’s more, it could improve construction efficiency and make operation easily.The thesis is based on the project of the1600t·m luffing jib tower crane developed by Dalian University of Technology and Xuzhou Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd. Level luffing control for luffing jib tower crane is further studied in this thesis. The main work is summarized as follows:(1) The composition of the tower crane and it’s characteristics are analyzed. Hydraulic systems of luffing and hoisting system and electrical system are designed for the model luffing jib tower crane. Besides, some pivotal components are selected.(2) The mathematical models of the luffing and hoisting system for the tower crane are built with transfer function. And the dynamic response and stability of the system are analyzed.(3) The principle of PID control system is analyzed. And the fuzzy adaptive PID controller for the level luffing system is developed. Finally, it is achieved by MATLAB.(4) The principle of level luffing for luffing jib tower crane and it’s some concerned mathematic expressions are studied. Based on the foundation above, the integrate models of luffing and hoisting system by Simulink are built. And exactness of the models are verified. The Simulink simulation models for the level luffing system with no algorithm and standard PID algorithm and fuzzy adaptive PID algorithm are established respectively. According to the simulation results, the fuzzy adaptive PID algorithm could get better control effects in level luffing control system.In this thesis, fuzzy adaptive PID control is used in level luffing control system for tower crane. It has been proposed that fuzzy adaptive PID has better effects from the mathematical simulation. This thesis provides a theoretical support and direction for the control of level luffing system for luffing jib tower crane.
