The third-generation nuclear power technology is known as the safest nuclear power technology. The nuclear main pump is the most important power plant of a loop in the entire nuclear power plant, which has been named as the heart of the entire nuclear power plant. The nuclear safety performance of the main pump is directly related to the safety operation of the entire nuclear power plant. So the research about the nuclear power plant safety performance should be done not only in the stable situations but also in the accident situations. The performance of the nuclear main pump in the accident situation is relate to the entire performance of the nuclear power plant. The most important role of the nuclear pump in the accident situation is to avoid or mitigate the core burned down, which is the main point we do the research based on. The main content of this paper includes the studying the idle time of the nuclear main pump in the LOCA, the performance of the pump in the air-liquid condition, the dynamics of the nuclear main pump, providing good basis for independent research of China in the area of the nuclear main pump, which has a very important significance. The main results of this paper include:the estimation of the half mass flow rate time, the study of two-phase performance of the nuclear pump, and the dynamics of the nuclear main pump. In the study of the estimation of the half mass flow rare time,we propose the conclusion that the moment of inertia of the nuclear main pump is too small, which can not provide the sufficient idle time. In the study of the two-phase performance of the nuclear pump, we provide the conclusion that the head of the pump becomes smaller with the increase of the void fraction and the temperature. In the study of the dynamics of the nuclear main pump,we provide the conclusion that vibration of the nuclear main pump is relate to the number of the rotor blade and the guide vane, which is also relate to the rotation speed, the greater degree of the eccentricity, the more obvious vibration of the nuclear main pump.
