With the development of The Times,people’s safety consciousness improve day by day.For the major civil engineering structure,how to monitor its damage situation,learn its health status in advance,become more important.The Dam,as a society important infrastructure, play an important role in the process ofthe development ofeconomy and society, because of its huge investment,complex structure, disastrous effect, the safe operation of the Dam are getting people’s attention. In recent years,piezoelectric impedance technology based on the piezoelectric ceramic (PZT),with its fast response,wide frequency band,sensing and incentive together, sensitive for early damage,become a research focus in the civil health monitoring fields.This article through the concrete model test, for piezoelectric impedance technology in concrete structural damage detection,mainly do the following aspects:(1) Summary and review the history of the development and characteristics of the piezoelectric impedance.Briefly introduce the basic principles of piezoelectric impedance,the relations of structural mechanical impedance and the PZT admittance, development of interaction coupling model of piezoelectric materials and structures.(2) Design of concrete cantilever beam test,through simulate the structural damage by cutting the cracks in the concrete beam, measuring the changes of the PZT admittance data buried in the concrete structure, to find the relationship between structural damage and the PZT admittance.(3) Pouring a high concrete arch dam model.Thro ugh burying PZT to the dam in the form of a smart aggregate, us ing shaking table to simulate earthquake damage to the dam,collected the admittance data by the different magnitude ofthe destruction to identify the Dam’s damage and its development. Thro ugh admittance data changes,analysis the location ofthe injury and the extent ofthe damage, find the weak parts ofthe dam and compare the sensitivity ofthe real admittance and the imagine admittance for the damage.(4) According to the findings of this article, summed up the problems in the analysis and experimental, the prospect for further research.
